Soris seeds

Soris or Soriz / Sorghum orysoidum - is a hybrid of rice and sorghum. Soris can be grown throughout Ukraine. The agricultural technology for growing is the same as for corn, and the sowing time is the same. The only difference is that soris tolerates drought better than corn. It is unpretentious to soils and very drought-resistant.

Moldavian food grade, bushes up to 80 cm. From one grain grows 3-5 stems with up to 2000 grains. Its taste is similar to that of rice, although in appearance this crop is very similar to sorghum. Height 1.2 m., leaves are wide and covered with a coating of wax on top. The inflorescences are dense. The grain in the inflorescence becomes yellow-white when fully ripe. Soris bushes well: from one planted soris seed a plant with three to five stems can grow, each of which has a panicle.

Porridge cooked from soris grains tastes practically no different from rice, but at home it is problematic to peel the grain from the husk. Thanks to a simple growing technique, soris can completely provide poultry and animals with food for the winter.

It can also be grown as an ornamental plant; the panicles of soris are beautiful when fully ripe, the bush is lush and medium-sized.

The best predecessors for crops are grains, legumes, potatoes, and melons. You should not sow after Sudanese or sunflower.

The soil is prepared in the fall, and harrowing is carried out in the spring. Fertilizers are applied under the plow in the fall.

Soris must be sown at the same time as corn. Optimally - in May, when the threat of return frosts has finally passed.

The distance between rows is 35 - 40 cm.

The seeding depth is 4-5 cm. It is useful to pin down the area.

You can harvest the crop after the seeds have fully ripened. But the most important problem is seed moisture. If the plants stand too long and the autumn weather is rainy, the seeds will gain increased moisture. And saving them will be problematic. Therefore, the key point is to thoroughly dry the seeds after assembly.
