At the age of ten, it reaches a height of 80 centimeters, a crown diameter of 100 - 120 centimeters. The height of an adult tree is 4.5 meters, the width of the crown is 6.0 meters.

The needles of the mountain pine are short, about 2.5 - 5.0 centimeters long, hard to the touch, collected in bunches of 2 pieces, the color of the needles is dark green. Cones are small, up to 4 centimeters long, ovoid, light brown in color.

Mountain pine has been grown in culture since the 18th century. It is used in plantations near houses, as a background plant for garden group compositions in stone gardens, on lawns, to decorate rockeries, rock gardens, garden slopes.

Mountain pine - a light-loving tree, can be planted in partial shade. This species is not whimsical to the soil and is moderately demanding on the amount of moisture. Likes soils with moderate moisture. It does not tolerate wetlands; for planting in such areas, it is necessary to dig a large hole and equip drainage from broken brick or expanded clay at the bottom of the hole. Mountain pine is frost-resistant, feels comfortable when the temperature drops to -40 degrees Celsius.
