Grain beans «Black turtle» (Black tortoise) - the magnificent black bean known as Tampico. Small black beans with a rich taste and fleshy texture due to their color are very rich in antioxidants.

This variety is grown as a string bean, as the pods remain tender for a long time, but still its main purpose is a dry bean with high quality grain.

These hardy beans ripen in the middle of the season. The blades are harvested after 60 days, and it takes about 100 days from seedlings to collect dry seeds. A semi-bush variety, producing a spreading shrub about 90 cm high, and the pods are high above the ground.

This bean tolerates heat well, is resistant to diseases, and is very productive. It is desirable to support plants with a net or stakes, this will increase the yield.

Black tortoise beans are indispensable in many Mexican dishes such as soups, burritos and vegetarian chili.

The most popular dish in Brazil is called Feijoada, it is made with black beans and, as the Brazilians themselves say, there is nothing more Brazilian than black beans.

Black turtle is also popular as a soup ingredient. In Cuba, black bean soup is a traditional dish, usually served with white rice.
