Hoary berteroa, false hoary madwort, hoary alyssum, and hoary alison / Berteroa incana - is a biennial unpretentious herbaceous plant, the type species of the genus Berteroa of the Brassicaceae family. The stem is single, erect, up to 80 cm high; branched in the upper part. Leaves are alternate, lanceolate. Stem ones are sessile, basal ones are short-petioled. The flowers are small and white. The inflorescence is a raceme. Blooms in May - September. The fruits are oblong-elliptical pods.
Hoary berteroa roots contain organic acids (up to 0.14%), alkaloids (0.77%), coumarins, tannins (3.6%); in seeds - fatty oil (up to 27.6%); in the aerial part - alkaloids (0.13%), coumarins, tannins, organic acids.
