Nigella «Oriole» / Nigella sativa (Black cumin) - nigella sowing, or Kalindzhi, or Seydana, or Sedana, or Black cumin, or Roman coriander is an annual herbaceous plant of the Buttercup family (Ranunculaceae).

Grows in crops, gardens, on steppe slopes.

Main advantages: uniformity, early ripeness, green yield is higher than that of the standard - by 45 - 50%, and seeds by 15 - 20%, decorative. Semi-closed bush, diameter 40 - 45 cm, height 50-60 cm. The leaves are light green, pinnately dissected, the shape is needle-shaped. The flowers are quite large, bordered by upper pinnately dissected leaves.

Blooms from July to August. Seeds have a pleasant taste and aroma, reminiscent of the aroma of strawberries. Nigella is used in the baking industry, when pickling cabbage, cucumbers, tomatoes, preparing compotes, jelly, etc. You can use young nigella greens in salads in early spring.

Due to its decorative effect, it can be used in floriculture for decorating lawns, flower beds, and when making fresh and dry bouquets.
