Echinacea purple / Echinacea purpurea

A perennial plant from the family Asteraceae, or Compositae (Asteraceae). Previously, this plant was assigned to the genus Rudbeckia with the same specific epithet.

Medicinal herb honey plant. Echinacea purpurea honey plant is especially valuable because it blooms at the end of summer, when others have already faded and the bees lack food. The duration of flowering of this plant of the second year of life is 2–2.5 months - from the end of June to the end of September. With late flowering (in July), this phase continues until frost. Its flowers abundantly secrete nectar, the largest amount of which is noted during the period of mass flowering, the smallest - at the beginning of flowering.
