Carolina Linden / Tilia caroliniana - is an excellent deciduous shade tree well suited to relatively large areas such as parks and playgrounds. It is often used in plantings on streets and boulevards, as it withstands urban conditions well. Autumn color can be quite impressive.
The Carolina Linden is a deciduous tree growing up to 20 m at a moderate rate. It flowers in July and the seeds ripen in October.
Suitable for: Light (sandy), medium (loamy) and heavy (clay) soils and prefers well-drained soils. Suitable pH: acidic, neutral and basic (alkaline) soils. It can grow in partial shade (light forest) or without shade. Prefers moist soil.
Flower tea has antispasmodic, diaphoretic and sedative effects.
