Red kuri squash «Potimarron» or chestnut gourd - is a type of gourd. Ripens in 120-130 days from germination. The plant is climbing, the fruits are medium-sized, weighing 2-3 kg, rounded with an oblong neck, clearly segmented, with a red-orange skin. It is distinguished by bright orange fruits in the form of a pear. The fruits are very tasty and sweet.
The variety tolerates the vagaries of the weather well and is able to perfectly maintain taste during long-term storage.
The pulp is yellow, dense, sweet. The orange beauty is distinguished not by a «pumpkin» taste, but by a well-distinguished chestnut flavor and light notes of walnut. It is rich in vitamins A, B, C, E (well, and all the other letters of the alphabet ...), trace elements and amino acids.
The flesh is not fibrous, the texture is more like a potato than a pumpkin. Not very juicy, rich in carotene, bright, dense and sweet. The variety is well kept.
Potimaron can be fried (like potatoes), baked (with cream and sprinkled with hard cheese - gratin), cook delicious soup-puree, and just - mashed potatoes. The taste is very rich, for mashed potatoes or soup, you can add a little carrot and / or potatoes. Or, of course, any vegetables of your choice.
Potimaron dishes are well set off by nutmeg (the main thing here is not to overdo it with adding it), cilantro or parsley.
The plant is warm, light, and moisture-loving. Infrequent, plentiful (10 liters per plant) watering, fertilizing with organo-mineral fertilizers are recommended. For normal maturation, 2-3 ovaries are left on the plant, and the lashes are pinched.
Landing. It can be grown by sowing in open ground, at a soil temperature of at least 14-15C, or by seedlings (sowing in April in individual cups).
30 day old seedlings are planted according to the scheme 140x100 cm after the end of the threat of spring frosts.
