Otricoli orange berry / Solanum nigrum Otricoli

An annual plant, up to 0.6-1 m tall. It blooms in the year of planting, the flowers are white. The fruits are bright orange, rounded, up to 0.5-1 cm in diameter, arranged in racemes of 5-10 pieces.

Orange berries are very healthy. In large quantities, they contain vitamins C, A, as well as potassium, calcium, magnesium, iron, selenium. Dried fruits are added to tea, which alleviates the condition of a cold. Juice of berries, diluted with water 1: 1, you can gargle with sore throat. And the juice of the leaves (1-2 drops each) is effective in the treatment of the common cold, even chronic.

He likes abundant watering, but does not tolerate waterlogging of the soil. Prefers well-drained, fertile soils. The optimum temperature for fruiting is 20-25°C. At temperatures below 10°C and above 30°C, development stops, the plant can drop buds and ovaries.

Propagated by seeds. Soak the seeds for 12-24 hours in warm water. Planted shallow, only slightly sprinkled. Germinate in a bright place at a temperature of 25-28 ° C. The soil should remain moist at all times, but not wet.
