Terry bellis «Monterossa» - a charming and cute flower, in our conditions it is grown as a biennial. Delicate pearlescent pink inflorescences on a low stalk resemble large pearls.
A precious scattering of miniature flowers will decorate any balcony or front garden. Bellis are easy to care for, bloom all summer long and are resistant to adverse conditions. This makes them a favorite among gardeners.
Main characteristics:
- height 10-20 cm;
- pink flower, 2-6 cm in diameter;
- blooms in the second year after planting, from May to August.
Blooming bellis are the foreground artists of the flower garden. With a bright stripe they emphasize the borders of a ridge or mixborder, they spread like a fragrant carpet along garden paths, and shimmer gently in balcony boxes. Pink bellis go well with tulips, daffodils, hyacinths, forget-me-nots, and pansies. An interesting solution would be a mobile garden in which flowers will be placed in different containers such as bowls, troughs, wheelbarrows and other available materials.
Planting perennial bellis:
- sow in open ground in May at a temperature of +18-20 degrees, without deepening, but only sprinkling the seeds with a thin layer of soil and covering them with film for faster germination;
- Next, you should thin out the seedlings that appear within a week, according to the 20x20 pattern;
- the seedling method allows you to achieve flowering in the year of planting;
- for this, flowers are sown in separate cups in February-March, adhering to the same rules as when planting directly on the site;
- bellis seedlings are moved to a permanent place in May with a damp lump of earth, compacted and watered abundantly;
- they love the sun and humus-rich loams, but they grow even among tiles;
- Regular watering, careful loosening, and removal of dry buds are recommended;
- for the winter they are mulched with sawdust, earth, and peat at least 8 cm high.
The name can be pronounced Monterosa.
