Calabash «Giant African Bushel Basket Gourd» / Lagenaria siceraria - a wonderful, late variety of tableware gourd, the fruits are very large, round, with a diameter of 30-50 cm. The wall is dense, up to 5 mm thick. Prized by artisans for their beautiful round shape. They can make wonderful baskets or containers. Ripening period up to 100 -120 days.
The fruits of lagenaria are huge, can grow from 7 to 15 kg each, and some reportedly reach 40 kg. Great for crafts or as a container. Dries easily.
The hard outer shell gives the gourd a wide range of creative possibilities, including carvings, musical instruments, floral arrangements, toys, water pots, dippers, decorations, wood burning (pyrography) and more.
