Amaranth «Paniculate dark red» - the original annual comes from South America. Powerful straight stems are topped with burgundy panicle inflorescences surrounded by greenish-red foliage. The name translates as “unfading, eternal”, since it blooms from early summer until frost.
The amaranth plant is a valuable source of protein, vitamins, dyes; it is used in animal husbandry and the food industry.
