Scarlet firethorn or red firethorn «Soleil dor» / Pyracantha coccinea - a genus of thorny evergreen shrubs from the Rosaceae family, up to 2 meters tall, with a wide-spreading crown, more than 5 meters, the lower branches of which often creep along the ground. The leaves are oblong-elliptical or lanceolate, up to 4 cm long, leathery, shiny, dark green, bright red in autumn.

In spring, small, white flowers, collected in corymbose inflorescences, give a special charm to the bush. The fruits are spherical, up to 0.6 cm in diameter, bright yellow, lasting all winter.

Light-loving, drought-resistant. It grows well on various soils, including calcareous ones. It tolerates pruning well, keeping its shape for a long time. Pretty warm.

Pyracantha red is suitable for group and single planting on lawns, edges, decorating rocky slopes and hills. Widely used in cultivation as an ornamental plant.
