Large-seeded lentil / Lens culinaris
Large green lentils, belonging to large-seeded varieties, the grain reaches up to 9 mm in diameter. Its vegetation period, depending on the variety and growing area, is 75-115 days.
Seedlings usually appear on the 6-10th day after sowing. Cotyledons are not brought to the surface. Before flowering, lentils grow slowly. After flowering, and this is approximately 40-45 days after germination, a period of intensive growth and branching begins. Lentils are self-pollinators. Stem lentils 20-55 cm high, depending on the variety and humidity of the soil and air, relatively little branched.
The leaves are light, gray or dark green, compound, pair-pinnate with 3-8 pairs of narrow leaflets with a twisted apex, ending in tendrils 1 to 60 mm long. The length of the leaves of large-seeded lentils is 15-27 mm, the flowers are 5-8 mm long, white, pink, violet-blue, arranged 1-3 (rarely more) on the peduncle in the axil of the leaves.
