Panicgrass «White Altanka» / Panicum - is a genus of annual herbaceous plants of the Poaceae family; it has an early period of panicle blossoming - 28-38 days. Among other cereals, panicgrass is characterized by increased resistance, is suitable for growing on dry soil, and tolerates heat well. This variety of panicgrass has increased resistance to shedding and drought.
The variety was obtained by chemical mutagenesis. Direction of use: grain (technical) and decorative.
The plant's stem height can reach from 70 to 130 cm. The leaves are without anthocyanin. The flag leaf along the length of the blade is short, approximately 20-30 cm, with the width of the blade - average 2-2 cm. The upper internodes along the length - average 15-25 cm, thick i.e. more than 0.3 cm. The pollen of the pistil is purple. Glumes without anthocyanin. The pads are expressed only in branches of the 1st-2nd orders. Compressed panicle, average length 25.1-32 cm, width narrow, less than 10 cm, inclined, loose less than 1 cm. Spikelet elliptical, dark yellow. Flower scales are yellow and thin. The caryopsis is oval 0.49-0.54, large 2.51-2.7 mm. The kernel is unpolished light yellow. The placental nucleus spot is brown.
The growing season is 87 days. When used technically, the yield of cereals when grain is dehulled is 78.0%, the protein content is 15.1%.
