Watermelon «Northern lights» - this is an ultra early variety. Vegetation period from germination to maturity - 62 days. The fruit is round, thin-skinned, green, without a distinct pattern. The weight of a commercial product is up to 0.8-1.3 kg. The flesh is pink, juicy, very sweet and sugary. The sugar content is 7%.

When growing watermelon in a greenhouse, no more than one fruit is left on one stem above the fifth leaf, the rest of the ovaries are removed, which contributes to faster ripening. The grade is appreciated for early and amicable return of a crop and uniform fruits.

Watermelon is grown in open ground and greenhouses on light soils. Sowing in open ground is carried out at the end of May. Sowing seedlings - in late April, early May. When the threat of frost has passed, the seedlings are planted in the ground (at the age of 30-35 days, in the phase of 3-4 true leaves) according to the scheme 80x200 cm.

As the plants grow, they form into one stem, removing side shoots, and leaving 2-3 ovaries. Further care consists in watering, fertilizing and loosening.
