The needles are flat, thin, 1.5 - 3.0 cm long, the needles are light green below with two white stripes, arranged on the branches incorrectly, comb-shaped. Needles with a pleasant, pronounced coniferous smell. Cones in Douglas are hanging, ovoid-cylindrical, 7-12 cm long. Seeds ripen in September of the same year.

Pseudotsuga Menzies is photophilous, moderately demanding on soil fertility, easily tolerates our dry summer. Pseudotsuga Menzies is a fast-growing tree, the annual growth of which in adulthood is about 1-1.5 meters. Therefore, Douglas fir is often used in landscaping to create an evergreen background for gardens and parks, it is an ideal tree if you need to quickly create a tall, impassable coniferous hedge.
