Maple-leaved sycamore / Platanus acerifolia - is a large deciduous tree with a formed umbrella-shaped crown. Reaches 20-30 meters in height and 15-25 in crown diameter. It grows quickly, with an annual growth of 50 cm in height and 40 cm in width.
The leaves are similar to maple leaves, they are three-lobed, 15-17 cm long, 18-20 cm wide, leathery, green. In autumn the leaves turn greenish-yellow and remain on the tree for a long time. The fruits are spherical, initially green, then reddish, and remain on the branches even in winter. The root system develops to great depth.
Sycamore is light-loving, but tolerates light partial shade. Not picky about soils. Can grow in almost any well-drained and well-moistened soil. Tolerates soil compaction. Resistant to atmospheric pollution. Relatively frost-resistant.
Recommended for large gardens, squares, parks and alleys, for single and group plantings.
