2) How to understand which seeds are varietal and which are hybrid?

All hybrids (from lat. hibrida, hybrida - crossbreed) in our store are marked in the name with the abbreviation - F1 (primary hybrid).
 
When creating new varieties of cultivated plants, hybrids are obtained manually (hand pollination, removal of panicles), chemical (gametocide) or genetic (self-incompatibility, male sterility) means. The resulting components can be used in various controlled crossing systems.
 
The goal of the breeder is to use the heterosis, or the vitality of the hybrid, which is most effective in the F1 generation, to obtain the desired advantage in yield or some other characteristic in the resulting generation or hybrid.

5) If an order has already been placed, can I add another product to it?

There is no such possibility. If you want to add one or two items, you need to place a new order and indicate in the comments: «Order - please attach to the previous order No. *****». After that, the store administrator will manually transfer these positions to the first order, and cancel the second (additional) order.
 
If you want to add more than two items, and your first order has not yet been formed and sent, it is better to place a new order, while indicating in the comment that the first order must be canceled. In this case, it is necessary to duplicate the notice of order cancellation through the «Feedback Form».

We DO NOT offer a warranty on these products.



 

10) What is a login?

The login is your unique pseudonym under which you will be recognized by the GARDENSeeds website system. The best login option is your phone number, because You will never forget your phone number, even if you make purchases in a year, you will always be able to remember it, in addition, it will be easier for us to process/search your order in the order database. Spaces cannot be used in the login.

A QR code is a two-dimensional barcode (barcode) that provides information for quick recognition using a camera on a mobile phone.

It can be listed on the site and gives a certain discount on the order or randomly in our social networks. If it does not exist, it is NOT required to enter it.

15) How to grow plants?

You can either germinate the seeds by directly sowing them into the soil and letting nature take care of it, or you can as well sprout them before sowing in to the soil. If you decide to sprout them before, just place the seeds on a moist paper kitchen towel, inside a small ziplock bag and keep in a dark location from several days up to a week (sometimes even longer). During this period, check it regularly (every few days) to make sure the towel isn't dried up (moisten if needed) and everything is OK. Once the seeds start to sprout, you can transfer them to their permanent growing place.
 
How do I plant the seeds?
  1. Plant the seeds into fertile, well drained soil, preferably rich in organic matter. From personal experience, the imported potting mix (you can it find in the nurseries) works better compare to the local potting soil often available in the supermarket, as the local soil is heavy and soggy, and seeds do not seem to do very well in it.
  2. Sprinkle the seeds on the surface of the soil/or sow not too deep inside the soil (you don’t have to use the whole packet to put in one pot, just sprinkle some seeds per pot, that would be fine). Cover the seeds lightly with extra layer of soil and then water. Sowing the seeds deep inside the soil will make it difficult for them to sprout and break the surface of the soil.
  3. While not all the plants need full sun, I would advice to plant them/keep the pots in a bright location with plenty of sunlight (however, it’s better to avoid the direct afternoon sun, as it’s often too strong for young and yet not fully established seedlings). As long as the plants get light even for some part of the day, they will be happy.
  4. Water regularly, when needed to keep the soil moist, though not wet. Some plants (ex. rosemary, thyme, lavender etc.) do not like to be watered too frequently. Over watering often causes wilting of the plant and the rot of the roots/seeds.
  5. If you are growing the seeds which naturally do better in cooler climates (lavender, dill, curly kale, wild strawberries etc.) it's advised to put them indoors with a environment temp. of +22-27°C at least for some part of the day.
