Do you want to feel like a natural scientist? Then it’s worth tinkering with the seeds. For stratification, at the end of September, the seeds had to be soaked for a day in clean water, put in a nylon bag, placed in a container between two layers of sphagnum moss and placed in the refrigerator at a temperature of 2-3°C until April (approximately these conditions are those that fell on ground raspberry seeds). Then sow in loose, fertile soil.
Agricultural technology for planting raspberry seeds
If you have a lamp available to illuminate the plants, you can start planting at the end of February. If the seedlings will be grown in a window without additional lighting, it is better to sow the seeds before March 15.
The soil prepared for planting (it is better to use store-bought, universal soil) is scattered into containers for seedlings. Raspberry seeds are small and are planted on the surface of the soil. They should not be covered with soil. Water the soil well through a strainer and cover with glass or film. Place in a warm, bright place. The first shoots will appear in about twenty days.
The seeds will germinate unevenly, only some of them will germinate in the same spring, and the rest may appear only after 1-3 years. To speed up seed germination, it is recommended to use biostimulants (Epin or Zircon), which will reduce the germination time by several times.
When the first leaves appear, it is necessary to pick the plants. The distance between them should be at least 5 cm. At the same time, the first fertilizing with a complete complex fertilizer is recommended. You should strictly follow the rules for preparing the working solution specified in the instructions for the drug.
Your wonderful seedlings should grow in a room or greenhouse until warm weather sets in, when there is no longer any threat of night frosts. Of course, in different regions this time occurs at different times, so there is no exact indication of the time of planting in the ground. Every gardener knows when to start transplanting seedlings.
During the day, when it is warm and sunny outside, take out the seedlings for hardening. Be sure to make sure that the first sun does not scorch the tender raspberry leaves, so it is better to shade it a little.
A week before planting raspberries in open ground, prepare a place for planting. Apply organic and mineral fertilizers and cover with dark film to warm the top layer of soil.
The distance between the bushes when transplanting should be at least 20 cm. You can plant raspberry seedlings in one row, or you can use a 20x20 cm planting pattern. During the entire summer period, make sure that the soil does not dry out; it is better to mulch it with mowed grass or old sawdust. This will not only improve the soil structure, but also protect the plant on hot days.
At the beginning of August, make the last transplant to a permanent place. Plants should be planted according to a 35x45 cm pattern in well-filled holes. In September, you can carry out a second fertilizing with mineral fertilizers.
The beginning of October will be a surprise for you; the first berries may appear on remontant raspberries, and you will be able to enjoy and appreciate their taste. From the second year of life, the plants will bear fruit very well.
Caring for young animals consists of watering every five days, feeding with urea every ten days, and weeding. Prevention against diseases and pests with special preparations will not be superfluous. Growing raspberries from seeds is quite possible. With proper care, raspberry beauties grown in this way will produce a harvest in the second year.
