Tobacco «Samsun» - the best results in cultivation are achieved in its homeland - in Turkey. However, the variety is early maturing, and is successfully grown all over the world.
It differs from most varieties in that it has a petiole leaf. This plant has a cylindrical shape, and an average height of 100-150 cm.
The leaves are not large, medium-sized, dark green, resinous and wing-shaped. They are very thin, but elastic, with small veins that are almost invisible. On the front side, the leaf is slightly wavy.
It blooms with bright red or light red flowers. This variety of tobacco has a high nicotine content, hence its frequent use as a mono-tobacco.
The leaves are saturated with essential oils, which give the tobacco an original spicy aroma and taste, as well as slow burning, ideal smoldering, due to which Samsun is included in most hookah mixtures and acts as an aromatic component in cigarette and pipe tobacco.
Samsun tobacco is also used in cigars to bring harmony to the taste and eliminate the harshness of the filler.
The seedlings of this tobacco are sown in March-April. Before sowing, slightly damp soil should be placed in the container (three parts of sandy loam turf soil and one part of well-rotted and sifted humus). The surface should be compacted and leveled, and then the seeds should be distributed evenly over it, lightly pressing them into the substrate, moistened from a spray bottle and covered with film. Then place the crops in a warm and bright place, water them through the tray and ventilate them daily, lifting the film for half an hour.
Plant according to the following scheme: 50×10 cm or 70×17.
Nicotine content 2.1%.
