Clothes moth is considered a pest due to its tendency to consume woolen, cotton and silk clothing. It is a tough insect that cannot be stopped by poor conditions, even being reported to withstand the effects of salt, a strong drying agent for insects. Lives in residential buildings, museums, warehouses with furs and wool.
Mating occurs on the first day or the next day, usually in the evening. Mated butterflies sit motionless, mainly in dark places. After 4 – 10 hours, the female begins to lay eggs. After the end of laying, the butterfly lives 4–6 days.
The clutch lasts 5-7 days, during which 60 to 100 eggs are laid. The caterpillars appear 6 days after the eggs are laid.
